Where are all the jewellery pieces made and how are the material sourced?
All of the jewellery pieces are made in our London studio, by Martina herself with the help of her assistant. Martina buys second hand crystals or crystals from local stone dealers in London in order to cut them into mushroom perfection.
All the suppliers are in London, where Martina buys her gemstones and precious metals. All of the gemstone carving and engraving are made by Martina herself in her studio. The waxcarving and texturing of finished metal is done by Martina. The stonesetting is usually done by Martina, sometimes with the help of a professional stonesetter for more complicated one-off projects. Some cabachons are cut in India by Martina´s supplier Daud. The packaging is made in Slovakia by Martina´s friends. Wooden packaging is made by Samuel Melek from off cuts of local trees in central Slovakia. The Mycelium packaging is made in Mycology Farm Drž Hubu in Bratislava, Slovakia. The whole process of the growth of the mushroom mycelium boxes takes around 4 weeks to grow. It is completely sustainable and biodegradable.
How to clean and take care of the jewellery pieces?
All of the pieces that are made from carved stones, are recommended be worn occasionally. They do not like water and sports. Pieces made from full gold or silver with set stones can be for everyday use. I recommend cleaning the carved pieces witha fine fabric cloth, used for sunglasses. The metal pieces can be cleaned with soft toothbrush and tiny bit of soap. Be gentle with all your pieces and contact us for further information on how to maintain your piece.
Store the pieces separately in a pouch or a box when they are not worn. Carved jewellery or enamelled jewellery can be lightly scratched if stored together with other jewellery.
